The Nigerian pastor was arrested yesterday at the Port Elizabeth Airport by the Hawks and police’s tactical response unit.
The televangelist allegedly molested congregants – some as young as 14-years-old. The Hawks say additional charges could be added as investigations are ongoing.
The pastor first came to light on the SABC’s Special Assignment where a number of the victims spoke of the alleged sexual abuse.
The ANC Women’s League’s Buyelwa Mafaya says he should not be granted bail.
“A man who is calling himself a man of God – a Christian doing things that are so inhumane – we are saying today there will be no bail for him,” he said.
